Hello!

I am doing an analysis of the "Health Worker Interview Questionnaire" portion of several SPA surveys.

Per the Malawi 2013-2014 SPA report, there are 5 categories of "Managing Authority" for health facilities: Govt (509 facilities); Christian Health Association of Malawi-CHAM (170 facilities), Private (252), NGO (59) and "Company" (70). However, I cannot locate this variable in the PV (provider) dataset, where it is located in SPA surveys from other countries, nor is it clear from the report where this question is asked.

If anyone knows where I can find the variable "Managing Authority," whether in the PV dataset or another and could let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thank you,
Emily

Please reference the Malawi SPA 2013-14 documentation, which explains as follows:

The different levels of data can be easily linked. Clients can be linked to providers using the FACIL and PROVNO variables present in both client and provider files. Linking clients or providers to the facility can be done by using the FACIL variable found in all 7 files. FACIL is the variable found in the first 5 locations of each file and is the unique facility identifier. PROVNO is found in the 6th and 7th locations of the provider and client files. CLTYPE (FP, SC, AN, and LD) and a 3-digit client number are found beginning in the 8th location of the client data.
