Dear all,

I am interested in individual sexual behaviors over time in Tanzania. From reading the data (Tanzania AIS) across years, it seems that a separate sample was drawn each wave of the survey (i.e. hivclust+hivnumb+hivline does not typically repeat). Let me know if I am wrong or if there is alternative way of tracking the same persons over time.

Here's a response from Senior Data Processing Specialist, Noureddine Abdeerrahim:

With some exceptions, all DHS surveys do not repeat the interviews. In the event that a person is interviewed twice in different phases of the surveys, this is a mere coincidence. The samples in different surveys are supposed to be independent of each other.
