I am working on NFHS 4 DATASET (COUNTRY INDIA). There's a table in which percentage of physical violence faced by women has been shown across various categories, one of which is whether the person belongs to nuclear families or not. How do I form that variable through the dataset in stata? In the footnote, it is mentioned that Nuclear households are households comprised of a married couple or a man or a woman living alone or with unmarried
children (biological, adopted, or fostered) with or without unrelated individuals.

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

This variable (nuclear family or not) is not a standard DHS covariate. In the past we have tried to replicate the construction that was used in the NFHS-4 but have not been able to match it. Perhaps someone at IIPS can help.
