I am working with the Indian DHS 2019-21 - IAKR7EFL.DTA. I'm seeing two different variables on anemia: v457 - anemia and hw57 - anemia.
So I'm looking to work on the mother's anemia. Please help me out

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:
In the KR file, children are cases. The child-specific variables mostly begin with b, m, or h, and the mother's variables, which are also on each child's record, begin with v. So v457 is the mother's anemia level and has the same value on each of her children's records; hw57 is the child's anemia level and it varies from one child to another (with the same mother).
Anemia is measured during the household survey. It also appears in the PR file, as ha57 for women and hc57 for children. Those values are copied into the IR and KR files during construction of the standard recode files.
