Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

If you are asking about the code for specific tables in the final report, please say which tables.

Sorry. I tried to generate delivery costs using NFHS 4 data. I cannot match the report. Can you please help with the same? Table No: 8.20.

The values I am getting are:
Public: 3152
Private: 17126
Total: 7069

Whereas the actual figures in the table are:

Public: 3197
Private: 16522
Total: 7935

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

I am uploading separate Stata programs for table 8.20 in the NFHS-4 and NFHS-5 reports. I believe a version of the program for NFHS-5 was posted earlier. The programs match the n's but do not exactly match the means. The complication with the total expenditure is that sometimes it comes from a stated total and sometimes it has to be calculated from the separate components. There appears to have been a confounding of 0 to mean "no cost" and 0 to mean "not stated" or "don't know". "Don't know" was supposed to be code 99998. The calculation depends on the interpretation of code 0 and code 99998 for the total and the components. I am not confident my interpretation of these codes, but I also am not confident in the original construction, which I do not have. Your approach may be equally good. If anyone out there can match table 8.20 in either report, please let us know.
