Hello!

I am currently attempting to obtain BMI data for men within the mens recode dataset. Since there is no variable in the mens recode, I looked into the individual recode, household members recode and household recode and found that one exists in some of those. for the IR - it did not work (only contains the female data i think), for PR - there is information on height, weight and 2 BMI variables and for HR - there are far too many different variables for body mass index and im not to sure what each signifies.

However everytime i attempt to do a merge on STATA, PR wont merge and HR gives so many variables for BMI that i dont evne know what to do with them.

Now im not quite sure if i am approaching this wrong as i am very new to the merge command and cannot seem to fully understand it, but any tips on how i could proceed to obtain BMI data for those men in the mens recode would be of great help!

Thank you

I was able to find the solution to this in another thread by using the height and weight variables from the PR dataset and using a code recommended in the same thread.

Thank you
