I need your help,I want to carry out data analysis on''Maternal health service utilization and adverse birth outcomes''. For maternal health service utilization i have two variable outcomes which are antenatal care and health facility delivery,for adverse birth outcomes,i have low birth weight and neonatal death for outcomes. Which Recode file is suitable for use IR or BR? When using IR,I get an equal number of women and neonates yet some recent births might have been multiples(twins,triplets,.),how can I fix that? When using BR,how to collect only the information regarding the most recent birth and be able to use it with corresponding maternal data?

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

I recommend that you use the KR file, in which births in the past five years are the cases. It includes children who have died. Each birth has a variable "bidx". The most recent birth has bidx=1, the next most recent has bidx=2, etc. The children you want are those with bidx=1.
