Hi

I am currently analyzing DHS data using the birth records dataset. However, I would like to adopt certain variables from the Household datasets. The variable in the birth record dataset is more than that of the household dataset. So when I attempt to merge the two datasets I keep getting the message on STATA that "variable does not uniquely identify observations in the master data".

What would be the best way to merge birth records (n=50,000) and Household (n=20,000) datasets?

Thank you

Kind regards.
Joshua

Good day,

The information provided is incomplete. Which country and survey year are you referring to? Are you trying to merge the BR and HR files, or the BR and PR files?
