Hello

I would really appreciate help in understanding the GIDX, G121 and G122 variables.

My key question is whether G121$01 and G122$01 relate to the youngest or oldest daughter under the age of 14?

For example, I am looking at an individual who has 7 children, 5 of which are girls. GIDX$01 is 7, the oldest child. Does G121$01 and G122$02 relate to her FGC status, or does G121$01 and G122$01 relate to the youngest girl's FGC status?

I am pretty sure G121$01 relates to GIDX$01 (7) but not sure about G122$01.

Thanks in advance,
Janet

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

The subscript identified by gidx_01 is the value of bidx in the birth history, which is always numbered from youngest (1 or 01) to oldest. The birth order, from oldest to youngest, is the reverse of bidx and is given by bord. For example, if gidx_01 is 7, then it refers to the child in the birth history with bidx=7.
