Dear DHS Representative,

I want to know the age of the mother at the time of most recent birth (bidx==1)they had. I am using Pakistan DHS 2017-18 (BR-file). What is a way to calculate it?

Best Regards

Dr. Hussain

Following is a response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

I will assume you are using the IR file. In century month codes, the month of the survey is v008, the mother's birth month is v011, and the month of her most recent birth is b3_01 (if she has never given birth, then b3_01=.). Her age in years at the time of the survey is int((v008-v011)/12). Her age at the time of the most recent birth is int((b3_01-v011)/12).
