Following is a response from Senior DHS Specialist, Bernard Barrere:
1) In the 2009 Mozambique AIS, dried blood spots (DBS) were collected and sent to a central lab to be tested using ELISA and Western blot. The test was anonymous and no results were returned. However, survey participants (as well as any other people in the survey area) were offered home-based counseling and testing (VCT): a special VCT team visited each cluster just after the survey team and stayed several days in the cluster. They offered rapid test (and provided results + counseling) at home or in a central place to all residents who wanted to know their HIV status.
2) The questionnaire and final report are only available in Portuguese.
