The shmunic variable within the dataset is survey specific and does not necessarily align with any established names or values for municipalities.

For the 2011-12 survey, you can use the GPS dataset available for the survey to extract the names from a geographic shapefile of the municipality boundaries. If you choose to do this, keep in mind that our GPS data is randomly displaced to protect respondent confidentiality. More information on the displacement process is available in our SAR7 report ( http://www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-SAR7-Spat ial-Analysis-Reports.cfm). Guidance on how to incorporate the GPS data into your analysis while accounting for displacement is available in our SAR8 report ( http://www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-SAR8-Spat ial-Analysis-Reports.cfm).

For the 2005-06 survey, GPS data is not available, but we hope to eventually release district identifiers for that dataset. Until those are released, the lowest level at which you could conduct spatial analysis is the representative region (departments) for the survey. You can download or view a map of the DHS regions for Honduras at http://spatialdata.dhsprogram.com/boundaries/#view=map&c ountryId=HN.
