Dear User,
Here is a response from one of our experts, Mr. Fred Arnold who researched further:
Quote:It looks like exotic cattle in Uganda are primarily Friesian (or Frisian) cattle that were originally imported into Uganda. The first two exotic cattle were imported to Uganda early in the 19th century but both of them died after getting bitten by tsetse flies. Attempts were finally successful in 1924. There are apparently other breeds as well that have been cross bred with local Uganda cattle (including longhorns). The most common exotic dairy breeds in the region are Friesian, Holstein, Ayrshire, Jersey, Guernsey and Sahiwal. However, the Friesian breed predominates. The common exotic beef breeds are Hereford, Brahman, Sussex, Charolais, South Devon, Africander and Simmental (dual purpose).
