Dear Mr. Islam
Please find my responses below.
In BDHS (2011), in community questionnaire there are 28 questions in total but in data file there are only 28 variables,so I am not able to understand questionnaire as well as variable e.g- two question for Hospital --
Response: I believe you are referring to the "Identification of Health Facilities" or section 2 in the community questionnaire. Questions 201 through 207 have 28 occurrences (e.g. co201C_01 through co201C_28). The first occurrence co201C_01 corresponds to "01A", the second co201C_02 to "01B", etc.
In BDSQ61 all 28 occurrences exist, unlike in BDSQ51 for 2004 where only occurrences that were used exist.
1.I want to know district and thana code and code list.
Response: We do not have the full district and thana code list for all the answers given in co202D and co202TH. We only have the codes for the 600 sample points selected (coDIST and coTHANA). That information is herewith attached. The sample points or clusters are selected from the 2011 population census of Bangladesh and you would have to contact the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics to get the full list (the list might be available online).
2.I am confuse regarding co207 questionsif co207n-01 - answer is yes health facility located in this thana or union) then the next question 201 - 01B should be in this district not in this thana.[/b]
Response: If co207_01 = 1 (health facility in this thana), then co201C_02 is skipped and thus not applicable and blank. The data follows the skip in C207_1 and all xxxxx_02 variables are skipped and not applicable.
3.For hospital, is co204n_01 include co204n_02?
Response: Co204n_01 and co204n_02 are different variables and co204n_02 is not included in co204n_01. Note that you need to take co204U_xx into account since some answers are in "miles" and others are in "kilometers".
4.what will be the mean distance to hospital?
Response: It is not clear to me for which group of enumeration areas you want to compute the mean distance?
For the mean distance to the nearest hospital use co204n_1, for the mean distance to the hospital in this thana use co204n_2 when available and otherwise co204n_1.
Please let me know if this is not clear.
