Dear Mr. Noureddine Abderrahim,
Thank you for your answer and apologies for my delay in responding. I have a few further points for clarification that I hope you or someone else can assist me with. First, you reference the standard questionairre, but the questionnaire published at the end of the 2011 Uganda AIDS Indicator Survey (UAIS) Report is the Uganda AIDS Indicator Survey Questionnaire for Women and Men 15-59. Which one was used to collect data?
The questionnaire link you posted is no longer working, but I found a standard questionnaire at http://dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/DHSQ6/DHS6_Questionnaires_5No v2012_DHSQ6.pdf. Based on this I am assuming that the questions correspond between surveys as follows:
807 and 808 in the standard questionnaire together correspond to 111 and 112 for women and 113 for men in the UAIS (I am considering only men in my sample.)
809 in the standard questionnaire corresponds to 114 in the UAIS
810 in the standard questionnaire corresponds to 115 in the UAIS
According to the skip pattern of the UAIS questionnaire, men who respond yes to 113 (having done any work in the last seven days) skip past 114 and 115. As such, they would not be asked if they had been absent from work. However, there are a number of men who are coded as having a job, but currently being absent who responded yes to V714. Given this, I'm confused about order of the codes. How can some men be coded as absent and currently employed when according to the skip pattern they weren't asked if they were absent?
Many thanks for your assistance in helping me understand this!
