We do not have Stata syntax for calculating the wealth index, but we have a new page on the DHS web site that includes the SPSS code used for each survey, so you could use that to construct the wealth index:

You might look at the example for the 1996 Tanzania, however, I suspect that many of the variables used for the wealth index in 1996 were not included in the 1992 survey. Most of the surveys from around that time included few of the asset questions, and thus it has not been useful or practical to produce the wealth index for these early surveys.
