Thanks very much for the links and advice, Liz.

Rather foolishly, I conducted household surveys in Kenya using the DHS income indicators (as used in the most recent DHS survey of Kenya) alone to gather information on wealth. Our sample size ended up being too small for a PCA to find sufficient variation within it to assign weightings, and so I was hoping to be able to obtain weightings from the DHS for Kenya in order to make sense of it (and we are actually more interested in understanding the wealth of the households relative to other households in the country rather than relative to others in the small sample, so PCA weightings from the DHS for Kenya would have been much more useful for us anyway).

However, given the situation I will try instead to create proxy wealth categories from housing materials. I imagine this will be a bit less accurate but should work ok for now.

If your expert returns within the next few weeks then I would be very grateful for their assistance, as wealth is quite a critical variable in our study and we are anxious to get the most accurate indications of it that we can. However I also appreciate that there are good reasons why you may not be able to distribute these files!

Thanks for your time,

Heather
