Thank you so much for your response. What you suggest makes sense. So far, qualitatively the results when using no weights vs. DV weights are very similar. I will attempt what you propose as well.
I suppose one could also do a very crude sensitivity analysis by postulating selection (into the couples dataset) probabilities per Lash, Fox and Fink 2009.
