I would like to use the population density data from the DHS Program Geospatial Covariate Datasets as a control variable in my regression analysis for the full sample including both urban and rural residents.
However, it is well known that population density is measured differently in rural and urban due to the different degree of point location offset (the buffers had a radius of either 2 kilometers for urban points or 10 kilometers for rural points).
May I ask whether it is possible to use population density as a control variable directly in a full sample (urban and rural) regression analysis?
If not, how can the variable of population density be processed for the full sample regression analysis. Thank you for your answer.
