Right now we are exploring some health outcomes and it seems the labels of the questionnaires and the datasets do not always match. In specific, we would like to explore contraceptive methods knowledge and use by the woman. In the questionnaire for women (DHS phase 6 2008-2013) question no 304 says: "Which method are you using?" Possible Answer: Yes/no to 15 different contraceptive methods (from A to Y)

In the datasets (i.e. Benin 2011) you can find the following for the same variable:
v304_01 label "Knows method"
v304_02 label "Knows method".....
v304_20 label "Knows method"

We have two problems here:
1. It seems the variables 304 in the data correspond to the question on the questionnaire 301 instead of 304. the 301 question in the questionnaire says :Have you ever heard of (METHOD)? (1). (Or knowledge of the method).
2. We have up to 20 possible contraceptives in the data. But in the questionnaire you include up to 15 contraceptive methods.
This is consistent with other datasets. (all subsahara Africa in fact)

Can anyone help me with this? Or do you know who I should contact to get the correct labels of the data?

Thanks

Paula G.
