good day, please i would need some clarification. i am working on exclusive and predominant breastfeeding in Nigeria, using the birth recode files of NDHS data for 2003, 2008 and 2013. the numbers i get don't tally with those in the data.
2003: i selected cases less than 6 months (HW1 < 6) and got a sample size of 617, but table 11.2 in the report has 659 as the number of living children <6 months.
2008: table 11.3 gives the number of the youngest children under 3 years but in the 0-5 months category as 2,835 and the number under 3 years as 2,874, but i got 2,924.
2013: table 11.2 - <6 months and living with mother as 2,930 and 2,989 as those less than 2 years.

i would like to know how these numbers were arrived at, and what filters were applied, or how the selection was done.

i would also like to know how to select the youngest child in the NDHS birth recode datasets for these years.

Thanks,

Adenike
