In addition, a male survey was conducted at the same time in a subsample consisting of one-third
of the households selected. All men age 15-49 who were usual members of a subsampled household or
who slept in the household the night before the survey were eligible for the male survey. The male survey
collected information on family planning and knowledge and behavior regarding HIV/AIDS and other
STIs. Also in this subsample, one eligible woman per household was selected randomly from all of the
eligible women in the household to complete a domestic violence survey. In the other two-thirds of
households that were not selected for the male survey, all women age 15-49 and all children under age 5
were eligible for height and weight measurements and for anemia testing. Furthermore, in a subsample
consisting of one in every six of the selected clusters, a micronutrient survey was implemented among all
women age 15-49 who had children under age 5 as well as among the children themselves.
