A response from survey manager, Dr. Soumaila Mariko,
Quote:
The only document that explains how the questionnaire was implemented in the field is the final report and the questionnaire structure itself. According to the questionnaire (Appendix E in the final report), question Q1109 select all daughters born on 1995 or later (daughters in age 15 or under), so that the sequence of following questions Q1110-Q1114 were asked on each daughter. However, the question Q1111, whether the daughter was cut has only two response categories (Yes or Not). Therefore, respondent who did not want to give the status for her daughter, are likely to choose not to answer the question Q1111. Please note that at that time, the genital cutting of the daughter was penalized and prohibited in Burkina Faso, with severe laws enforced, including jail for the authors and parents.
