Dear forum users,

I have been trying to replicate the perinatal mortality rates for Nepal DHS 2011 (Table 8.4, page 117-full report). I went through the guide to DHS and also through the messages posted in the forum. I have explored using both the birth recode file and individual. There are couple of variables s216, sprego that I tried but was unable to come with the answer.

I would be glad to have any insights, suggestions on how to replicate the findings.

N/A

Dear Liz,

Thanks for the information. But, unfortunately I am still not able to replicate the findings. I am also trying if I could get an answer through the reproductive calendar but have not been successful so far.

The perinatal mortality is generally calculated from DHS data using a combination of the calendar and the birth history. In the Nepal survey you have a pregnancy history so it could be calculated from that, but I assume that it is calculated in DHS' standard approach from the calendar. Have a look at this thread that asked a very similar question for Indonesia.

Hi,

When i reshape 2011 Nepal DHS IR data file into pregnancy file, i still find hard to get information for pregnancies which turned into stillbirth. For example, pregnancy interval or desire for pregnancy for those cases which turned into stillbirths.
