I am working on the Dominican Republic 2013 Special DHS dataset (DR6A). The variable for region (v024) is coded as 0, i, ii,...... viii. But I do not find the explanation for these codes in the final report.
But the final report for Dominican Republic 2013 Standard DHS (DR61) gives the meaning of each code:
Región 0: Distrito Nacional, Santo Domingo y Monte Plata.
Región I: Peravia, San Cristóbal y San José de Ocoa.
Región II: Santiago, Puerto Plata y Espaillat.
Región III: Duarte, Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez y Hermanas Mirabal.
Región IV: Independencia, Bahoruco, Barahona y Pedernales.
Región V: La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, San Pedro de Macorís y Hato Mayor.
Región VI: Azua, San Juan y Elías Piña.
Región VII: Dajabón, Monte Cristi, Santiago Rodríguez y Valverde.
Región VIII: La Vega, Monseñor Nouel y Sánchez Ramírez.
So are the meanings of the regional codes in Dominican Republic 2013 Special DHS (DR6A) the same as those in the Dominican Republic 2013 Standard DHS (DR61)?
Thank you very much!

Following is a response from Senior DHS Data Processing Specialist, Ladys Ortiz:
The Dominican Republic Special DHS (DR6A) is actually the sugar cane plantation survey (also known as: Bateyes). It's a very small sample and is not representative by region. The sample was based on the sugar cane plantations in DR. The value labels are ok and have the same meaning as in DR61. For more information, please reference the Bateyes' final report (table 1.1 sample design).
