Hi there
I working on 2011 Ethiopian DHS to analysis the effect of contraceptive using and postpartum insusceptability on fertility, but i cant find the variable that postpartum insusceptability and the other problem is how to analysis the prevalence of contraceptive use among married women using SPSS. It would be great if you could let me know which variable to use and the Syntax to analyse the prevalence of contraceptive use among married women on 2011 EDHS data.

Here is a response from Senior Data Processing expert, Mr. Guillermo Rojas:

To calculate the contraceptive prevalence for married women should be very simple. Variable V501 has the marital status and variable V312 has the method currently being used.

Dear User,
The Guide to DHS Statistics has a section on "Postpartum Exposure" which explains the calculation (page 73). The final report should already present insusceptibility by education and wealth index.

Dear User,
Take a look at
V208 Total number of births in the last five years is defined as all births in the months 0 to 59 prior to the month of interview, where month 0 is the month of interview.
V209 Total number of births in the past year is defined as all births in the months 0 to 12 (not 0 to 11) prior to the month of interview.
V210 Total number of births in the month of interview
Page 43 of the recode manual.

Hello,
I am working with Malawi DHS surveys and other surveys to study fertility in the country. I know in the manuals you have stated how variable v201 (children ever born) is created; however, am also working with v208 (births last five years). I would like to know how it is derived, so I can be able to arrive at same results as in the reports.
