Hello,

I am working with the 2010 Colombia DHS reproductive calendar. I am trying to figure out when (date) the calendar begins. The variable V017 equals to 1259 for all cases which, according to my calculations is November 2004. This seems not to be in line with the definition of the v017 variable which according to the Standard Recode Manual VI is: "V017 - century month code for the first month of the calendar. This is constant for all cases and is the century month code of January of the first year of the calendar".

So according to the definition, V017 should be a January of some year and according to my calculations for CDHS 2010 it is November. Could you adivse how to figure out what the specific date (month and year) of the befinning of the calendar is? Can it be that it is not January? If so, could you explain what the description of the variable in the manual means?

Many thanks,
Eva

Dear User,
Here is a response from senior data processing expert, Mr. Guillermo Rojas:
Quote:
The calendar in Colombia started in November 2004 and as such is the first month in the calendar. V017 specifies the first month in the calendar used for the survey. For the vast majority of surveys it always start in January of some year but in Colombia it started in November 2004.

Thank you!
