I'm working with data from the 1990-91 Pakistan DHS. I'm aware that GPS data was not collected for that survey, however, I was wondering if there might be information available that gives the districts and tehsils (the third and fourth-level administrative divisions) in which each cluster is located. The DHS dataset only gives province identifiers (admin1).

Thanks for your post. The attached Excel file gives the region, division and district names for each of the clusters in the Pakistan 1991 DHS. The worksheet named "Instructions" explains what each of the fields are. Unfortunately, the original sample file did not give information down to the Tehsil level. However, within each district, there is information on the district/city classification of each cluster.
Also, please note that there were five clusters in the recode file that did not have matching codes in the sample file and were assigned regional office and division names based on the first 4 digits of their cluster number codes (the part corresponding to the division). The district name and district/city classification were left as #N/A for these 5 clusters.
I hope that this information helps you with your research.

Files to link District codes and names have not been created for the Pakistan 2006-07 or Pakistan 2012-13 DHS surveys. The district information for the 2012-13 DHS may be available sometime in the future. District codes and names files will be posted to the user forum when they are available.
The Pakistan 2006-07 DHS has GPS data available, therefore we suggest you use the GPS data within GIS software to determine the District classifications. For additional information on that process, please refer to a similar post on the topic: http://userforum.dhsprogram.com/index.php?t=msg&th=70&am p;goto=208&S=0ee864e6a5e1969c8dda88744b343e61#msg_208
Unfortunately, GPS data is not available for the Pakistan 2012-13 survey.
If this has not adequately answered your question, please respond.
