Are there technological improvements that can be made to further improve the collection of vaccination coverage data?
There are a few ideas that we are looking into or have already adopted, including:
Scanning or photographing vaccination records: Scanning and capturing vaccination dates would be ideal, but we have yet to find a suitable tool to enable us to capture the contents of vaccination cards with sufficient accuracy. Photographing is a second alternative, but would require later manual recording or checking, which can be error prone. Are there good tools for capturing vaccination records available?
Serosurveillance: See the separate thread for serosurveillance.
Computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI): DHS has used CAPI for data collection in several surveys, and this permits some real-time checking of vaccination data during the interview, e.g. dates of vaccination are in order, after the date of birth and before the date of interview. Are there other ways CAPI could be used to further improve data collection?
