I suggest you first look at the Guide to DHS Statistics on our website. It can be found here:http:// www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg1-dhs-questi onnaires-and-manuals.cfm
This publication is bookmarked and has information on calculating infant and child mortality. There is also a section on handling missing values. Th Under-five mortality rate calculation is on page 94. After reviewing the information if you still have questions, please feel free to post again.
