I am new to the DHS, and am using Kenya 2010 in Stata

I need to use the reproductive calendar vcal_1, but I don't know how to use the data within it, or how to extract the information.

Basically I am initially looking for all women who have had either a live birth or a still birth during the 36 months prior to interview.

I can see that it's a matter of searching for B (births) or T (terminations with 6-8 preceding Ps) in the first 36 characters.

But I don't know how to do this in Stata.

Any tips would be very useful!
