Dear DHS forum Team,

Greetings,

I am currently working on a study titled "When Fathers Drink, Can a Mother's Education Reduce the Risk of Fever, Diarrhea, and ARI in Children Under Five? Insights from the 2016 Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS 2016)."

I'm trying to merge the men's recode file (MR file) with the children's recode file (KR file) to link fathers' characteristics--particularly alcohol consumption--with child health outcomes. However, I am facing challenges in correctly merging the two datasets.

Could you please provide guidance or sample Stata syntax on how to properly merge the MR and KR datasets for the 2016 EDHS? I would also appreciate clarification on which identifiers should be used to accurately link fathers to their corresponding children within the same household.

Thank you very much for your support.

Kind regards,
