Dear DHS Team,
My name is Bernard, and I am a PhD student at Taipei Medical University. I am currently using DHS data for my research paper, which examines the determinants of stunting among children under five in Haiti. I have a question regarding the region of residence variables across different survey years.
Specifically, I am working with datasets from 2012 and 2016/17. In the 2012 dataset, I noticed that for variable v024, "Aire Metropolitaine" and "Rest of West" are combined, whereas in 2016, these regions are split. Additionally, I observed that the 2012 dataset includes variables SREGION and SREGNEW.
My question is: If I use SREGION or SREGNEW in the 2012 dataset to separate "Aire Metropolitaine" and "Rest of West" (to match the 2016 categorization), is this method appropriate? Furthermore, can I apply the same weights, clusters, and strata to these variables as I would with v024?
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Best regards,
Bernard
