Hello,

I am looking at the KR file of 2011 survey for Uganda. By using the code on this website https://github.com/DHSProgram/DHS-Indicators-Stata/blob/mast er/Chap04_MS/MS_MAR.do I tried to create MAFM variabled based on education regions etc. When I tried to do this previously for the year 2016, it worked. But now it doesn't work. When it gets to line 67 of this code, it turns all the values into missing values. Why could this be? Any help is appreciated.

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

Median age at first marriage is a characteristic of women and is calculated with the IR file. The KR file consists of children born in the past 5 years and is not used for this purpose. In the program, lines 67-78 calculate two scalars related to the integer ages that bracket the median age, prior to interpolation to get the fractional median age. For example, if the median age is 27.41, the two scalars will be 27 and 28. These lines are ok.

Please try the program again on the IR file and let us know if you get an error message.

It's possible that changes in data structure or syntax updates between years caused this issue. Check if variables names or formats differ in the 2011 survey compared to 2016.

It is possible that changes in data structure or syntax revisions over the years produced this issue. Check to see if the names or formats of variables alter between the 2011 and 2016 surveys.
