I would like to look at the number of boys versus girls taken to a private doctor in Bangladesh but also would like to add to this analysis the women's education level and other household variables(wealth index). How can I merge all this information.? Some of the DHS variables seem to appear in the household and in the woman's questionnaire.

You will probably find the children's recode (KR) file will be the most useful for you. Here you can find information about the sources of treatment for children for fever, cough , and diarrhea, including whether they went to a private doctor (h32l, h12l) . You will also find information on the sex of the child (b4), the education of the mother (v106), and the household wealth index (v190). You won't need to do any merging to use this file.

If you do find you need to merge files, please see http://dhsprogram.com/data/Merging-Datasets.cfm

Thanks, Trevor, I will look in more detail and hopefully will be able to do that.
