Dear Sur or Madam:
In stead of KR file I used BR file when Studying
ANC, delivery assistance and post natal care
In Chad. Indeed, in BR file I Found all useful data on
ANC and delivery for bidx=1.
My question can I continue with BR file or
IT Is better to use KR file.
Another problem IT Is not easy to find data on the Time
Of the first check Up after delivery in BR file.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:
If you are studying children born in the past 5 years and children for whom the health questions were asked, it is easier to use the KR file. The BR file has that information, plus some information (the "b" variables) about ALL births, but I think the KR file will meet your needs.
The variables for postnatal care of children and for mothers can be difficult to distinguish, because their labels are similar. Also, in some surveys, there are different variables for home births and facility births. I don't think that distinction was made in Chad.
In the Chad 2014-15 survey, it appears that m60-m62 describe post-natal care for the mother and m70-m72 describe post-natal care for the child. Time after delivery is m61 for the mother and m71 for the child. As you say, these are only given for the most recent birth in the past 5 years (bidx=1).
The time variables have a complex coding that includes the unit of measurement. It is described in the Guide to DHS Statistics ( https://www.dhsprogram.com/Data/Guide-to-DHS-Statistics/inde x.cfm).
