Hi,
In Household Recode (HR) file, the variable HV241 contains information about cooking place asking whether food is cooked in the house/separate building/outdoors. The answer includes 1) in the house, 2) in a separate building, 3) outdoors, & 4) Other. Can anyone please tell me what does "in a separate building" mean, & how does that differ from outdoors? Thanks in advance.

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

"A separate building" in this context would typically be a small structure, perhaps only 2-3 meters square, that would protect the main house from smoke and the risk of a fire.
