In which data set of BDHS 2017-18 may I access the variable of anemia in women 30-49 years old?

Normally this would be v457 in the IR file. However, I opened the file (BDIR7RFL.dta) and I see that this variable is NA. The corresponding variables for children (hw57_1 through hw57_6) are also NA. Apparently hemoglobin measurements were not included in this survey. Decisions about whether to include hemoglobin and anemia are made by the country, not by DHS.

What reasons do countries give for not including anemia test in DHS?

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:
Decisions about whether to include specific modules or biomarkers are mostly, as you suggest, made by the countries rather than by DHS or USAID. Considerations include the extra cost of data collection, whether there is a pool of potential biomarker specialists available to go into the field, the availability of laboratories to do the hemoglobin analysis, the perceived severity of anemia as a health issue, the existence of other data that would meet the country's needs, and other priorities.
