I need to find the gender of the respondent under NFHS-5 dataset. From IR file i could easily locate respondent's current age and other socio demogrpahic characteristics but I am unable to find the gender of the respondent. There are variable v151 which tells the sex of household head or sex of household member. Please guide on how can i obtain the gender of the respondent.

To find the gender of the respondent in the NFHS-5 (National Family Health Survey-5) dataset, specifically in the IR (Individual Recode) file, you can use the following variable:

Variable: v013

This variable, "v013", represents the sex (gender) of the respondent

Locate the "v013" variable in the IR file of the NFHS-5 dataset.
The values for this variable are:
1 = Male
2 = Female
So, to determine the gender of the respondent, you can check the value of the "v013" variable for each record (respondent) in the dataset. A value of 1 indicates the respondent is male, and a value of 2 indicates the respondent is female.
