Merging 2015 Angola HIV data with standard DHS [message #29173]

Hello... Please I need help. Below are my steps in merging HIV data with the 2015 Angola standard DHS.

Prepare the AR file
use "...A0AR71FL.DTA", clear

gen cluster=hivclust
gen hh=hivnumb
gen line=hivline
sort cluster hh line

* Prepare the IR file
use "...AOIR71FL.DTA", clear

gen cluster=v001
gen hh=v002
gen line=v003
sort cluster hh line

* Do the merge
merge 1:1 cluster hh line using

Outcome
merge 1:1 cluster hh line using " C:\Users\Gbang\Downloads\AO_2015-16_DHS_05032024_1157_156908 \AO
> AR71DT\AOAR71FL.DTA"

Result # of obs.
-----------------------------------------
not matched 13,403
from master 7,745 (_merge==1)
from using 5,658 (_merge==2)

matched 6,634 (_merge==3)

Almost 50% of the data were not matching. Where did I go wrong?

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:
Nothing is wrong with what you did. The AR file is approximately evenly divided between women and men. You matched the women.
