hi there

which indicators from the IR file or any file from the DHS dataset I can use to show the overall utilization of healthcare services besides the maternal, reproductive, or anything related to pregnant women. I want an indicator that will show the overall utilization of healthcare services by everyone not only a certain portion.

I am doing a study on healthcare utilization in rural versus urban areas, using Lesotho 2009 and 2014 DHS data. the aim is to find the extent of inequalities in urban-rural healthcare utilization and to see if there have been any changes in healthcare between these two years. the analysis are done on Stata

thank you in advance!

I suggest that you read through the questionnaires that are at the back of the final reports for each survey to assess which questions you might be interested in using. There is not likely to be a general question about health care utilization, but there may be other questions that could be useful. For example, there are questions about sources of HIV testing, family planning, sources of advice or treatment regarding STIs, or sources of advice or treatment for children with diarrhea, ARI or fever for children. You won't though find questions about more general utilization of healthcare - they are all likely to be specific to some particular issue. There is a somewhat more general question (question 1001E in the women's questionnaire, 801E in the men's questionnaire in both surveys) that might be the most useful.
