Good Day here,
I am working on regional variation, empowerment, and experience of child mortality in Africa. I need a dofile on the measurement of experience of child mortality (as experience and not experience). I don't know if someone can assist me with the dofile generation here.

Thank you for submitting your question. Could you please provide some more detailed information so we can better advise you?

Can you let us know:
• Which survey you are using (Include country name and year)?
• Which data files you are referring to?
• Which software you are using (Stata, SPSS, R, etc.)?

If you are trying to match a Table in a final report, please also indicate which table and which estimate you are trying to match.

I am using NDHS 2018 for Nigeria
The data file is the kids recode dataset
I am using STATA version 14.
The study is rural-urban differentials in empowerment and mortality experience among women of reproductive ages.
I would appreciate it if I could get a do file on the study.

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

The DHS website provides do files to match the standard tables in the final reports as well as the indicators (https://github.com/DHSProgram). However, we cannot prepare a do file for your specific study.

I agree with thinking of children as your cases, rather than women, and using the KR file. Your outcome could be whether the child survived, as predicted by the empowerment variables and place of residence. You would need to control for a number of other covariates. It could be easier if you focus on neonatal mortality (b7=0) and use logit regression. Good luck with your research.
