Hello,

My name is Divya Kapoor. I am a graduate student at the University of Central Florida, USA. I am working on a research project on Child marriage in India and using DHS datasets 2019-2021 (India). For my analysis, I need the birthplace of respondents (Women). Please let me know if there is a recode of women's childhood residence in the datasets.

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

This survey does not include any information about the woman's place of birth. There is no way to tell whether the current place of residence is the same as where the woman was born or where she lived when she was first married.
