Hi!

I need the indicator "Births in the last year, by age group and parity" for the calculations of PPR.

Since i calculated women and parity from BR file as below for PDHS 2018.

table v201 v013 [pweight = v005/1000000], contents(sum bord)

Kindly guide how can i get births in last year by age group and parity of a women?

Regards
Waqas Imran

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

The number of births in the past year is v209. You can get approximately what you want with the following lines in Stata:

gen v201_one_year_ago=v201-v209

gen birth_in_past_year=v209

replace birth_in_past_year=1 if v209>1

tab v201_one_year_ago v013, summarize(birth_in_past_year) means obs

This will give a table with the proportion of women of women who had a birth in the past year, tabulated by parity at the beginning of that year and age group (at the time of the survey). This command does not include weights. You can use svyset and svy to get weights. Hope this will meet your needs or you can modify it.

Is the file to be used, for births in last year, (IR)file or (BR)file?

Sorry for not specifying that. These lines would be run on the IR file, in which women are the cases.
