Hi,

I am trying to calculate stillbirth rate with PDHS dataset and I didn't get any references to calculate with DHS dataset.

I need your suggestions to calculate SBR with DHS dataset and is that possible?

Regards
Aravind. D, M.P.H.,

Thank you for submitting your question. Could you please provide some more detailed information so we can better advise you?

Can you let us know:
• Which survey you are using (Include country name and year)?
• Which data files you are referring to?
• Which software you are using (Stata, SPSS, R, etc.)?

If you are trying to match a Table in a final report, please also indicate which table and which estimate you are trying to match.

Sure. Thank you for getting back.

I am working on Pakistan DHS dataset (2017-18) with individual recode file to calculate stillbirth rate using STATA.

Stillbirth rate was not mentioned in the PDHS report.

Thanks

Following is a response from DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

Table 9.16 in the report gives the percentage of pregnancies ending in a stillbirth. Perinatal mortality is described in Table 8.4, and it can be separated into stillbirths and early neonatal. Stillbirths are identified in the calendar, vcal_6, with the character "S". There have been earlier posting specifically on the construction of Table 9.16 in the Pakistan 2017-18 report and on the general construction of the perinatal mortality rate. Let us know if you still have questions.
