I would like to generate district level aggregates which I would like to compare across the two waves. In turn, I need a mapping of the NFHS-5 district codes into the NFHS-4 district codes. As new district have been generated (most of the time by splitting a single existing one), a direct mapping of the new districts (appearing in 2019) to old ones (appearing in 2015) appears possible. Any help on creating such mapping of districts codes would be helpful!

In NFHS-5, 132 newly created districts (79 in Phase 1 and 53 in Phase 2) were formed since NFHS-4.The 132 new districts in NFHS-5 have district codes 801-932. The 132 newly formed districts in NFHS-5 are not comparable with the NFHS-4 districts even if some of them have the same district name in NFHS-5 and NFHS-4. We recommend limiting your comparison between NFHS-4 and NFHS-5 only to the 575 districts with district codes below 801 in NFHS-5.

Hello, I was also looking into the same problem, the number districts have increased to 932 in NFHS 5 from 640 in NFHS 4. Just to get things clear, Are you suggesting that I drop the new districts and the old district?

Another thing that is of concern, is that suppose there's district_A, which was split into two parts and now there a new district called district-B and the another part of old district which carried on the name as district-A. Would it be possible to find some resource, using which I can find new districts and figure out the district they split from? Thank you.
