I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out which DHS phase the 2014 Ghana DHS is conducted under. The Stata file I have downloaded is called 72, indicatingt that is a DHS VII questionnaire. However when opening the Individual Recode Documentation attached to the data files, it says that it is a DHS-VI dataset. Can someone help me figure out the phase?
Thank you in advance
Best regards

The "6" in the documentation means that this survey followed the DHS-6 standard recode, even though it is under the DHS "7" phase/contract. Many of the early surveys that have "7" as the 5th character in the filenames are actually DHS-6 surveys, in terms of the standard recode structure used. For most rounds of DHS, there is a lag of a couple of years between the beginning of a new phase/contract of DHS, which is determined by the dates of the contract with USAID, and the implementation of the new standards (recode programs) for that phase.

Thank you so much for your reply. So I should follow the DHS VI Recode Manual?

You are welcome. And yes, please use the DHS-VI Recode Manual.
