In PDHS 2012-13, a variable named 'sdist' lists frequency. Can someone help me in understanding what it is actually. Is it no. of EAs from each district or something else. I have reviewed record booklet from DHS (Standard Recode Manual For DHS 6), but it doesn't mention anything about 'sdist' variable.

Only standard variables are described in the standard recode manual. The variable: SDIST is country specific, and you will have to reference the questionnaires in the appendix of the final reports, to get more information on such quewstions. SDIST is coded from "District" which is on the cover page of the Woman's questionnaire.

For country specific questions, the variables are generally named and coded in the same way as they were on the questionnaire. The variable will have a leading "SH" if the question was asked at the household level, a leading "S" if asked at the women's level, and a leading "SM" if asked at the men's level.

Following is response from DHS Research & Data Analysis Director, Tom Pullum:

We have never had access to the Pakistan sampling frames. For all the Pakistan DHS Surveys, we received the sample file from the Pakistan NSO. We have no way to match names with the codes. You will have contact the Pakistan NSO for help.
