Hello,

I'm trying to analyze calendar data (vcal_1, vcal_2). I'm working with Zambia dataset of 2013-2014.
Based on the tutorial, I think the coded number for each contraceptive method in DHS survey seems to be different with how it coded in the dataset.

In Zambia DHS 2013-14, condom is number 7 in the survey. Is it still "7" in the calendar variable (vcal_1)?
How should I compare these two?

Thank you,

Following is a response from DHS staff member Tom Pullum:

Yes, 7 would be the code for condom in both places.

Hi, Janet

Thanks for your message. I used the reference of "DHS Contraceptive Calendar Tutorial", and it seems "5" as a recoded number for condom.
Which one should I follow? (Please refer to the attached image file)

Thank you so much,

Following is a response from DHS staff member Tom Pullum:

You are right, the code for condom in the calendar is 5. Sorry about the confusion.
