Hello!

I have been reading into the DHS final report for the NFHS-5 and noted that a Accu-Chek Performa blood glucometer was utilized to obtain blood glucose biomarker data. It was mentioned in the final report that a finger stick blood specimen was taken. I just want to confirm that for both the datasets made accessible to us and for the published final report, all blood glucose readings (e.g., variable smb74 in the male dataset subset) are displayed as a capillary blood glucose measurment and not a plasma equivalent glucose concentration. I cannot find this clarification stated anywhere in the final report and would appreciate any support as this affects any sort of analysis to be done with this variable in the dataset!

Thank you,

All blood glucose readings and the blood glucose estimates in all of the tables are displayed as a capillary blood glucose measurements and not a plasma equivalent glucose concentration. Also, note that the blood used in all of the measurements was random blood, not fasting blood.
